Habitat Classification and Mapping
PHASE 1 HABITAT SURVEY
A Phase 1 Habitat Survey is an assessment of the habitats present within a site. Work is carried out according to a recognised protocol set out by the Joint Nature Conservation Committee (JNCC) to identify 10 broad habitat categories comprising 155 specific habitat types.
This survey is usually carried out between May and October, although it may be possible to survey smaller sites at other times.
Alongside our site summary report, we use GIS mapping techniques to generate a coded map of your site showing all habitats present. Your report and cross-referenced map will provide an initial assessment of the likely impact of any proposed development or disturbance.
